Care kit Instruction
Disassembling the flute
- Separate the flute into its three sections, head joint, main body, and foot joint. Be sure not to touch the keys or keypads because these can easily be damaged.
Cleaning the flute sections
- Use the cleaning rod with the cotton cloth wrapped around the rod to swab the instrument bore.
- Insert the rod into each end of the main body and foot joint. This will absorb all of moisture from the bore.
- Insert the rod into the head joint until it touches the cork plate above the embouchure hole on the lip plate. Never push against the cork plate. It should not move.
Cleaning the flute sections
- Gently polish the flute's surface using the silver polishing cloth to remove tarnish, fingerprints, and restore its natural shine
- Never use chemicals or metal polish to clean the finish. This can harm the finish, pads, and corks.
- The bore should be swabbed every time after playing.
- After cleaning, return the individual pieces of the flute into the instrument case. Do not store the wet cleaning cloth inside the case with the flute, as the moisture could tarnish the flute.
