Care kit Instruction
Disassembling the trombone
- Separate the hand slide into two sections. The inner slide and the outer slide.
- Remove the main tuning slide from the bell section.
- Remove the mouthpiece from the case and put with the other parts.
- If any of the parts cannot be removed by hand, take the trombone to a professional repair shop.
Cleaning the trombone body
- Fill a bathtub or sink with enough lukewarm water mixed with liquid dish detergent to submerge the trombone bell section, slides, and mouthpiece.
- Place the body and parts in the tub and let them soak for 5-10 minutes.
- Use the flexible bore brush to clean the inside of the inner hand slide, outer hand slide and main tuning slide.
- Never use the brushes on the exterior of the trombone or parts as this could harm the finish of the instrument.
Cleaning the mouthpiece and slides
- Use the tapered mouthpiece brush to clean the inside of the mouthpiece.
- Clean the exterior of the body and parts with a washcloth and then rinse with clean lukewarm water.
- Rinse all parts with clean lukewarm water.
- Lay the body and parts aside to dry.
- Apply a few drops slide cream on the bottom section of the inner hand slide and work it into the outer hand slide.
Reassembling the trombone
- Apply tuning slide cream to the exterior of the inner main tuning slide tubes and replace the main tuning slide, use a clean cloth to remove any excess lubricant after the slide is installed.
- If you want to polish the exterior of the trombone, please use the micro-fiber cleaning cloth.
- Return the trombone and mouthpiece to the instrument case.
